So, in honour of Global Entrepreneurship Week, we thought it was only fitting to write a blog about all the fun and quirky reasons you should start your own business and be your own boss!
Work More to Work Less
Now, this may seem a little counter intuitive, but bare with me! Starting a Company requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Unlike the typical 9–5 job, you will never switch off, there are no set working hours. Having your own business is like having a baby, if it wakes up screaming in the middle of the night because it’s hungry or in pain, you wake up too and won’t sleep until the baby sleeps! But all this hard work will eventually pay off.
Once your business is up and running, with a brilliant team behind you, you will be able to work as much or as little as you want. Put in the hours at the beginning, and you will be able to have a lie in, see your daughter’s piano rehearsal or go on holiday whenever you feel like it.
Work When You Want
As I just said, if you work hard at the beginning, you will be able to choose when you work in the future. After all, who is going to stop you? The boss?
Sleep When You Want
Don’t feel like getting up early in the morning? Don’t! Fancy taking a few extra hours kip during the day? Go on!
People Think You’re Gutsy
Running a business is not for everyone. It takes guts and the ability to jump head first into situations that would terrify most people. If you are the type of person who likes to take risks, running a business is the perfect profession for you.
You Will Be a Person of Action, Not Just Words
Things don’t just happen as you wish, things happen as you do. Becoming an entrepreneur will mean that you will not only talk the talk, you will also learn to walk the walk — even if you do stumble a few times.
You Control Your Own Destiny
Working for yourself allows you to do what you truly want to in life. No choice is ever forced, you will always be in control. With no one above you to tell you what to do, you have the freedom to create, seize or refuse every opportunity, allowing you to take the path you truly wish to take. After all, if you want to be a success, who’s stopping you?
You’ll Be Happier
Being your own boss, making your own decisions, working as much or as little as you want, sleeping in — if you can’t be happy with that, then I’m not sure what will make you happy!
Delegate Boring Tasks
Don’t want to type that letter? Can’t face that phone call? Luckily for you, you don’t have to! With a brilliant team around you, you can delegate all the boring tasks and only do the ones you want to do.
You Will Have a Story To Tell
Every entrepreneur has their own story — after all, it’s tough starting and succeeding with your own business, otherwise everyone would do it. Just look at the likes of Richard Branson, Bill Gates and Mark Cuban. At the top of their game, these billionaires all have incredible stories of a rollercoaster of failure and success. Whatever your story, it will be a good one.

The only person in your way is you. So, why not?
