The process isn't easy, but the reward is worth it

Young Start-Up Talent is not just a competition with one winner, it is an opportunity to learn more about business as a whole, develop your business ideas and network with a range of professionals. Throughout the process, you will receive a wealth of knowledge and mentoring from a variety of business experts, enabling you to take your business to the next level.

INITIAL WORKSHOP

The process begins with an initial workshop, which focuses on a range of business topics, including finance, marketing, sales and networking. This workshop will give you a chance to ease into the process, allowing you to get to know your fellow applicants and ask any questions you may have about the initiative.

THE ONE2ONE'S

A maximum of 15 businesses will be selected and invited to an informal ‘speed-networking’ session with our judges and sponsors for your region. As one of the semi-finalists, you will then be able to talk to our judges and sponsors about their business ideas, gaining invaluable advice and expertise to help your business move forward.

THE 2ND WORKSHOP

The second workshop provides you with all the tips and techniques you need to perfect your pitch before you face the judges. It will also provide you with the opportunity to ask any general or specific questions you may have about your business plan and how to improve, so you are ready and prepared for ‘The Pitch’.

THE PITCH

Five judges … Five finalists … an opportunity to pitch your business idea.

Only five finalists will get the chance to pitch their final business plan to a panel of five judges. You will have five minutes to explain your business and how you will progress after the competition. The judges will then be able to ask you a series of questions to delve deeper into your business plan, allowing them to better understand where you plan to go and how you plan to get there.

THE FINAL WORKSHOP

As part of ‘The Final’, each finalist will have a trade stand to show off their business idea to all of the attending guests, enabling you to network and continue to acquire more contacts to help you after the process.

To prepare you on how your trade stand should look, and what types of things you should put on the stand, another workshop in the form of a skype call will take place in the weeks leading up to 'Final'.

The Final

The Final marks and the announcement of the winner of the prize fund of business products and services. The event will be a chance for you to show off all you have learnt through the process to all  the judges, sponsors and other business individuals there to support you and what you have been up to over the last few months, and how you have grown as both a business and an individual. This will include a short open mic pitch.
