Abu won the Young Start-up Talent West Kent project back in January 2013, with his Company ‘SMT Trading UK’ after wowing the judges with his enthusiasm, knowledge and well thought through business plan. SMT Trading offers a weekly service that hires out linen based products, such as table slips, napkins, chef jackets and aprons to name a few. On top of this, Abu also sells hot towels, whilst also providing a laundry service to various restaurants, hotels and banqueting halls.
Since winning the initiative, Abu has been able to use the £50,000 prize fund to take his company to the next level, building up his business and servicing his ever-growing client base. His high quality, reliable service has meant that he has grown his turnover substantially and has therefore been able to branch out into more areas across the UK. On top of this, Abu has been able to hire more employees, with the help a start-up loan, which Young Start-up Talent was able to help him secure.
As he grows and expands his business, Abu plans to provide a number of different types of services for his clients, as well as begin to venture into different sectors within the linen industry.
